Understanding neuronal circuit correlates of long-lasting behavioral changes in anxiety.
Mission.
Our research goal is to understand the changes in synaptic connectivity that lead to long-lasting states of anxiety. We are looking at synaptic connectivity on the single neuronal level with high throughput to resolve the connectome of entire brain regions. We identify key neurons in maladapted circuits by electric and molecular profiling. We are aiming to discover the neuronal circuit maladaptation that leads to altered behavior in anxiety states.
Approach.
To understand functional circuit architecture and the identity of its neurons, we develop interdisciplinary methods and apply them to obtain a cohesive understanding of neuronal connectivity and its causal relation to behavior.
